Local SEO
Own your suburb before you spend a cent on anything wider
Short answer
Local SEO gets you into the Google map pack for searches near you. The three levers are a fully built Google Business Profile, consistent business details across the web, and steady genuine reviews. For most service businesses it's the cheapest source of qualified enquiries available.
The approach
Why we do it this way
For a service business with a van and a service radius, the map pack is the most valuable real estate on the internet. Three results, above everything organic, shown to someone who is usually ready to call right now.
It's also the most winnable. National SEO means competing with everyone; local SEO means competing with the handful of businesses that serve the same suburbs you do — and most of them have a half-finished Google Business Profile and eleven reviews.
This is the work we recommend first for almost every local client, because the return arrives fastest and it costs the least.

Answers
Local SEO questions, answered properly
How do I get into the Google map pack?
Three factors decide it: how close you are to the searcher, how prominent your business is (reviews, citations, links, brand searches), and how relevant your profile and website are to the search. You can't move your office, so the work concentrates on prominence and relevance.
How many Google reviews do I need?
There's no threshold, but consistently being ahead of the businesses currently in the map pack for your terms helps. Recency matters more than most people expect — 40 reviews with none in the last year performs worse than 25 that are current.
Can I rank in suburbs where I don't have an office?
In the map pack, rarely — proximity dominates. In organic results below the map pack, yes, and that's what suburb landing pages are for. We'd rather tell you this up front than sell you fifty location pages that can't rank.
Do fake reviews work?
No. They get filtered, they risk your profile being suspended, and in Australia they can breach consumer law. We won't do it and we'd advise leaving any agency that offers.
What if I'm a service area business with no shopfront?
You can hide your address and set a service radius. It works, though it slightly limits how far the profile ranks. We'll set it up correctly.
